Alberta Water Tool New Module - Water Use Reports

Foundry Spatial’s Alberta Water Tool (AWT) was recently relaunched with an exciting new module providing access to water use reports. This new module allows users to view and explore water usage for individual licences as well as create summary reports for watersheds or user-defined areas of interest, and export the data for further analysis. Made possible with the support of the Alberta Upstream Petroleum Research Fund and Petroleum Technology Alliance Canada, the relaunch of the Foundry Spatial Alberta Water Tool is revolutionizing water management for the province.

Full mobile compatibility, and the ability to interact with generated report content within the application are also featured in the relaunch. These reports produce water supply and demand reports for any location of interest and also include information on reported water usage by water rights holders. Water decision-makers are able to access information on potential water supply through this public facing tool in a format that provides actionable information in an easily understood, transparent manner.

The Alberta Water tool is a point-and-click web-based tool designed for scientists, industry explorers, communities, and government decision-makers. It supports sound water resource management at a fraction of the cost and time of traditional methods so that context sensitive scenarios can be evaluated in a matter of seconds. The hydrological modelling behind the Alberta Water Tool rapidly crunches data from more than 180,000 watersheds across the province. Reports summarize the streamflow monitoring data to provide an understanding of how flows change over the course of the year, and how variable these flows are seasonally. Generated in real-time, users can access reports instantly such that no valuable project time is wasted.
