Groundwater - Surface Water Connectivity in California

On March 12 Foundry Spatial co-hosted a workshop with the University of Victoria, The Nature Conservancy, Environmental Defense Fund, and Stanford University's Water in the West Program in Menlo Park, CA. The objective of the workshop was to discuss tools for assessing surface water - groundwater interaction, with a primary focus on addressing one of the 'undesirable outcomes' defined in California's Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) - depletion of surface waters from groundwater pumping. The presentations and discussions were top notch, and we look forward to continuing the dialogue over the coming months. Special thanks to Tara Moran (Stanford) and Tom Gleeson (UVic) for all their hard work organizing, and to the staff at Stanford who facilitated a great day.
